The Robert Emmet Society is based in Petoskey, Michigan, the county seat of Emmet County. Its mission is to create awareness of Irish Patriot Robert Emmet (1778 - 1803), the namesake of Emmet County, which is located in northwestern Michigan, on the shores of Lake Michigan. The Society's major event annually is the awarding of a scholarship to a student at North Central Michigan College for one semester of study at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology. Information on the scholarship competition, now in its 10th year, may be obtained by emailing the Society, info@emmetsociety.org.

- Each spring, the Robert Emmet Society awards a scholarship to an outstanding North Central Michigan College student for a fall semester of study in Galway, Ireland.

Robet Emmet Remembrance Day

RES in partnership with the Blissfest Music Organization presents an annual Robert Emmet Remembrance Day in Petoskey, MI on September 18 featuring a Pub Crawl, films focusing on the legacy of Robert Emmet, the namesake of Emmet County.

EMMET VIDEO  TO SCHOOLS 
 
The Robert Emmet Society has distributed video copies of a lecture entitled "The Life and Legacy of Robert Emmet" to public and high school libraries in Emmet County, the Emmet County Historical Society and North Central Michigan College (NCMC). Click here for details.

Beth Merry, 2008 McCarthy Scholarship Winner, adds her name to the list of winners on the Joseph P. McCarthy Plaque.The Robert Emmet Society sponsors this annual contest that sends a student to Ireland to study. The Joseph P. McCarthy Commemorative Plaque is located at the NCMC Library. The plaque was designed and built by The Wood Shop.
