Bruce Janssen (right) and Aaron Place display the new commemorative plaque that will hold the names of all NCMC students who win the annual Joseph W. McCarthy Memorial Scholarship for a semester of study in Galway, Ireland. 
     The Robert Emmet Society presented the plaque to the NCMC Board of Trustees in January of 2006 and it was unveiled for the general public in the college library  when the 2006 scholarship winner was announced in May, 2006. 
      Mr. Janssen, owner and creative director of The Wood Shop, 111 East Street  in Boyne City (582-9835) and Mr. Place, his design director, produced the beautiful mahogany plaque as a public service for the Robert Emmet Society.  The society funds the only scholarship at NCMC that sends a local student abroad to study.
