IRISH PATRIOT AND NAMESAKE
OF EMMET COUNTY, MICHIGAN

The Robert Emmet Society is based in Petoskey, Michigan, the county seat of Emmet County. Its mission is to create awareness of Irish Patriot Robert Emmet (1778 - 1803), the namesake of Emmet County, which is located in northwestern Michigan, on the shores of Lake Michigan. The Society's major event annually is the awarding of a scholarship to a student at North Central Michigan College for one semester of study at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology. IRISH STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE
- Each spring, the Robert Emmet Society awards a scholarship to an outstanding North Central Michigan College student for a fall semester of study in Galway, Ireland. Click here for a letter home from the most recent scholarship winner.

IRISH FILM FESTIVAL - As part of the Harbor Celtic Festival every August The Robert Emmet Society presents a Series of classic films and documentaries with lecture and music depicting the Irish home rule movement from Robert Emmet's time to Independence in 1948. 7 p.m. music, 7:30 film, followed by Q&A session at the Harbor Springs Middle School Cafeteria.  Click here for 2005 schedule.

EMMET VIDEO DISTRIBUTED TO SCHOOLS - The Robert Emmet Society announces that video copies of a lecture entitled "The Life and Legacy of Robert Emmet" have been distributed to public and high school libraries in Emmet County, the Emmet County Historical Society and North Central Michigan College (NCMC).
